School Construction

Florida Lottery Funds have Contributed to the Construction and Planning of 780 Statewide School Projects

The Florida Lottery proudly supports the Classrooms First and Classrooms for Kids programs, which utilizes Florida Lottery revenue to fund school district projects for new construction, renovation, remodeling and major repair and maintenance of educational facilities. In addition, this funding assists school districts in meeting the constitutional class size reduction requirements. As of June 30, 2010, more than $3.9 billion in Lottery-backed bonds have been allocated for this purpose.

Every time you play Florida Lottery games, you contribute to education in Florida.

1. Escambia County:
   Cordova Park Elementary School opened in August 2009. This 8-classroom, 11,300 square-foot Lottery-funded addition provides space for 152 students in grades K-5.
2. Pasco County:
   Anclote High School opened in August 2009. This 204,665 square-foot Lottery-funded high school provides classrooms for 1,894 students in grades 9-12.
3. Oceola County:
   Koa Elementary School opened in August 2009. This Lottery-funded, 111,725 square-foot elementary school provides classrooms for 992 students in grades K-5.

4. Charlotte County:
   East Elementary School originally constructed in 1963, was rebuilt after the school was destroyed by Hurricane Charley. This Lottery-funded 100,160 square-foot East Elementary School opened in November 2008, and includes 47 classrooms housing 861 students for grades K-5.
5. Broward County:
   Lauderdale Manors Elementary School opened in January 2010. This 27,686 square- foot Lottery-funded addition provides an additional 15 new classrooms.
